As expected, Becchi wins GOP line in Passaic

Rosemary Becchi scored her first win in her bid to unseat Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-Montclair) in New Jersey’s 11th district, securing the Passaic County Republican organization line.

Becchi, a former U.S. Senate Finance Committee tax counsel, is the presumptive Republican candidate, but Passaic was the first county organization to formally make its endorsement.

She is expected to also secure the organization line in Essex County when they meet next month.  Morris and Sussex counties are lineless.

Republicans cleared the field for Becchi to run in the 11th in January, when she dropped her challenge to Rep. Tom Malinowski (D-Ringoes) in the 7th district.

Becchi received the personal endorsements of the four county chairs – Laura Marie Ali in Morris, Al Barlas in Essex, Peter Murphy in Passaic and Jerry Scanlan in Sussex – last month.
