Passaic County Republicans have picked William Marsala and Matthew Conlon as their candidates for freeholder against Democratic incumbents Bruce James and T.J. Best.

Marsala spent 16 year as a Ringwood borough councilman.  Conlon is the West Milford Republican municipal chairman and a former school board member.

“I am proud to present this strong slate of candidates on behalf of the Republican Party in Passaic County and ask our Republican voters to support these fine individuals in June,” said Passaic County GOP chairman Peter Murphy. “These candidates bring a wide range of experiences, backgrounds, and professional qualifications to the table to help Republicans up and down the ballot.”

Marsala and Conlon will run on the Passaic Republican organization line with Donald Trump, U.S. Senate candidate Rik Mehta, congressional candidates Fran Pallotta in the 5th, Billy Prempeh in the 9th, and Rosemary Becchi in the 11th.

“I speak for my entire organization when I say we are proud to stand behind President Trump and support taking back the House while making a run for another Senate seat,” Murphy said.  “Together, behind our President, we can be part of a Red Wave in November.”

James and Best won party backing for re-election after a closed-door screening committee vote earlier this month.

Republicans have not won a freeholder seat in Passaic County since 2009.
