Adam Alonso, one of Gov. Phil Murphy’s top political strategists, is joining U.S. Senator Bob Menendez’s re-election campaign as a senior advisor.
Alonso, who served as Murphy’s deputy chief of staff and is now at the Democratic State Committee, will help coordinate the senator’s re-election efforts going into the final stretch. He was the political director on Murphy’s 2017 race gubernatorial campaign.
“Adam is a talented strategist whose statewide experience will be indispensable during this last month of the campaign because the stakes have never been higher,” said Michael Soliman, the Menendez campaign chairman.
His presence on the Menendez campaign signals Murphy’s personal commitment to make sure Menendez secures a third term in the United States Senate.
Murphy has been heavily involved in state party fundraising and building a grass roots operation to help Democrats pick up congressional seats and win victories at the county and municipal level in November.
The governor and first lady have raised over $4.5 million for the state party. Alonso has been part of a team that has enhanced the Democratic party database, including the addition of over 2 million cell phone numbers in an all-out effort to create a tidal wave of Democratic victories.
