With Altman running for Congress, Miles will be WFP’s interim state director

With current New Jersey Working Families Party state director Sue Altman embarking on a congressional campaign, Antoinette Miles will take the helm as the organization’s interim state director.

“I am honored to take the helm of one of New Jersey’s premier progressive advocacy organizations at a critical moment for our state and our nation,” Miles said in a statement. “At a time when MAGA Republicans are attacking the very fabric of democracy both in Trenton and Washington, we’re going to continue aggressively fighting against corporate special interests and for policies that empower working families.”

Until today, Miles was the organization’s political director, a position she’d held since July 2022. Prior to that, she worked in the district office of Rep. Andy Kim (D-Moorestown) and at the Communication Workers of America.

Among other things, the New Jersey Working Families Party has been a leader in the fight against the county organizational line, spearheading a lawsuit that’s currently tied up in federal court. Altman excoriated county lines for years, but now must try to win them for her congressional campaign; the effort to abolish them now falls to Miles.
