American Democratic Majority, a super PAC allied with South Jersey Democratic leaders, will honor George E. Norcross III and the South Jersey legislative delegation at a high-dollar fundraiser on October 13 in Mount Laurel.
The event comes as South Jersey is investing heavily in flipping a Republican State Senate seat in Atlantic County and two open GOP Assembly seats in the Burlington-based 8th district. Along with that, Democrats are working to re-elect State Sen. Dawn Addiego (D-Evesham), who switched parties in early 2019, in the 8th and hold on to their two 2nd district Assembly seats.
Norcross has been a New Jersey political powerhouse since the 1980s, when he first won a race for Camden County Demcoratic Chairman.
Senate President Steve Sweeney, Assembly Majority Leader Louis Greenwald and the entire South Jersey legislative delegation: five senators and eleven members of the State Assembly, are listed on the invitation.
The super PAC has received $1.25 million from the New Jersey Education Association, the state’s largest public employee union, according to a POLITICO report.
Tickets are $2,500-per-person, but there are no legal restrictions to contributions to a super PAC.
A similar event was held at the same location on June 16.
South Jersey spent heavily to win a Democratic State Senate primary in Bergen County this year, backing Assembly Speaker Pro Tempore Gordon Johnson for the seat Loretta Weinberg is giving up.
