One incumbent won narrowly, and another was defeated in a hotly contested Democratic primary for the Palisades Park Borough Council.
Cynthia Pirrera, who has served as a councilwoman for 17 years, defeated school board member Stephanie Jang by 39 votes, 948 to 919.
The top vote-getter was Pirrera’s running mate, Planning Board member Jae Kwan Park, who received 1,141 votes.
Councilman Frank Donohue, a retired high school principal, finished last with 795 votes.
Pirrera and Park ran on the Democratic organization line.
No Republicans filed to run in the heavily Democratic borough.
