Former councilwoman wins Dem bid to take on Watchung mayor

By Joe Seewald, June 03 2026 1:37 am

Former Councilwoman Daryl Eisenberg Knegten won the Democratic nomination for mayor in Watchung on Tuesday.

Knegtan leads with 372 votes, followed by Timothy Carroll with 122 votes.

She will face incumbent Ronald Jubin, who was unopposed in the Republican primary.

Watchung is a politically competitive town; Kamala Harris and Mikie Sherrill carried it by less than a point in 2024 and 2025, respectively.
