Bergen, Passaic votes mostly counted

With most of the votes counted in Bergen and Passaic counties, Republican U.S. Senate nominee Rik Mehta has expanded his lead.

Mehta leads Tricia Flanagan by 9,189 votes in Bergen County, 52%-20%, with Hirsh Singh running 17 votes behind Flanagan.

In Passaic County, Flanagan now leads by one vote, 3,587 to 3,586, with Singh trailing Mehta by 1,133 votes.

Rep. Josh Gottheimer leads Arati Kreibich by 24,752 votes, 68%-32%, in the race for the Democratic nomination for Congress in New Jersey’s 5th district.  Gottheimer carried every town in the district except for Glen Rock, where Kreibich serves as a councilwoman.

In the 5th district Republican primary, Frank Pallotta has extended his lead to 8,351, 52%-32%.  McCann carried Bergen County, where he had the organization line, by 992 votes, 46%-41%.  Pallotta won easily in the Passaic, Sussex and Warren portions of the district.

Rep. Bill Pascrell leads Zina Spezakis by an 84%-15% margin, with Alp Basaran at 1%.

Provisional and cured ballots are not yet complete.
