After the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump, a Rutgers University faculty member posted on her Facebook page: “Let’s hope today’s events inspire others.”
Now Republican gubernatorial candidate Ed “The Trucker” Durr wants Rutgers to fire Tracy Budd, a non-tenured assistant teaching professor in the English Department at Rutgers’ New Brunswick campus.
“New Jersey does not need people like this teaching our children,” said Durr, a former state senator from South Jersey.
Durr wants Budd, a former Jersey Journal reporter who has taught at Rutgers for over two decades, removed.
Budd also said of the Trump shooting, in which one man died: “They shot his wig. Sad.”
The Highland Park resident is also the host of a podcast called Love and Anger. Her profile stated, “Tracy Budd is a complex, multi-talented shiftless layabout. “
“When she’s not teaching composition at Rutgers University, she can be found at local liquor stores and yard sales yelling at people. If you have a question or suggestion about Love and Anger the Podcast, please contact someone else,” the profile says. “She wouldn’t listen to you anyway.
The day after the shooting, Atlantic County League of Women Voters Chair Victoria Druding resigned after a Facebook post said: “Trump was shot!!! Unfortunately, he was only grazed.”
Durr referenced a post from a website, Campus Reform. Budd’s Facebook posts are only accessible to her social media friends.
Rutgers University and Budd did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
