Veterans Day Statements

By David Wildstein, November 11 2020 8:16 am

U.S. SENATOR BOB MENENDEZ

“On Veterans Day, I join the people of New Jersey and Americans all across this nation in honoring the generations of veterans who have stepped up to serve our country, protect our people, and defend our democracy and the values we hold dear. When I think about America’s veterans I think about all they have achieved throughout our history, from liberating Europe from the grips of authoritarianism to dismantling networks of terror to advancing our national security interests around the globe.

“I believe that we must honor our veterans and their families not only with words but with action, and that begins with ensuring they receive the health care, education, and job opportunities they earned. And while we may never fully repay the debt we owe our servicemen and women, we all have an obligation to live up to the democratic ideals our veterans were willing to defend with their lives, from free and fair elections, to civil rights, to equal justice under the law, and opportunity for all. Today we thank our veterans for their service, and recommit ourselves to being a nation worthy of their sacrifice.”

ASSEMBLY MINORITY LEADER JON BRAMNICK

“Defending democracy is paramount.  Today, we take time to honor the brave and selfless Americans who have served in the United States Armed Forces: soldiers, sailors, Airmen, Marines, Guardsmen, and Merchant Mariners.  We owe you our respect.  And, we owe you our freedom.  Thank you to all those who served our country.”

ASSEMBLY SPEAKER CRAIG COUGHLIN

“On Veterans Day and every day, I thank all who have worn our nation’s uniform.

“We owe a debt of gratitude to all the military men and women who have faithfully served this country in order to secure our freedoms. We are also grateful to their families for the sacrifices they have made

“Those of us living in freedom will always be grateful to those who helped preserve it.

“God bless all our veterans who served America in war or peace.”
