A Trenton city council candidate who is trailing a rival by three votes in runoff election wants a recount.
Machine and Vote by Mail ballots put Joseph Harrison ahead, 764 to 761, over Taiwanda Terry-Wilson.
“We have a rule of law in this country that says every vote counts and so every vote must be counted,” Terry-Wilson said. “Based upon the results, importance of this election, and what’s at-stake for the residents of our great city, I’m calling on the Mercer County Clerk’s Office to conduct a full and thorough recount.
Harrison and Terry-Wilson are seeking the open East Ward seat of Verlina Reynolds-Jackson, who left the council in February after her election to the New Jersey State Assembly.
“From day one, my campaign has been for the people. And I won’t quit now,” said Terry-Wilson.
