Tammeisha Smith was removed tonight as president of the New Jersey School Boards Association for cause, but the New Jersey Globe has not confirmed the reason for her ouster.
A vote of the board occurred at an emergency meeting this evening.
Longtime Montville school board president Karen Cortellino, the immediate past president, becomes the acting president until the state school board group holds their meeting next month.
Smith has been a member of the Knowlton Board of Education for fifteen years.
Timothy Purnell, the executive director of the New Jersey School Boards Association, did not immediately respond to a text message.
