Monmouth County Democrats raised over $50,000 on Tuesday with more than 400 people attending their annual fundraising dinner.
Senate President Nicholas Scutari and Majority Leader Teresa Ruiz headlined the event
“Year after year the Monmouth County Democrats, led by Chairman (David) Brown, prove themselves to be a formidable force – promoting the very best of our Democratic value,” Scutari said. “As Senate President I get to see a lot of our State, and truly look forward to every opportunity I have to visit Monmouth County and highlight the great work of its Democratic leaders.”
Ruiz, the first Latina to serve as majority leader, was the keynote speaker.
“It was wonderful to join the Monmouth County Democrats to celebrate the strides they are making in their communities and I look forward to seeing all they are able to accomplish in the year ahead.”
Democratic State Chairman LeRoy Jones, Jr. praised Brown’s leadership.
“With less than 60 days until this election, it is more important than ever for Democrats to unite, dust off the summer sand, and get back to work to elect Democratic candidates up and down the ballot,” he said. “We need every vote in every county, and under the leadership of Chairman Brown and Vice Chair Foster, I’m confident Monmouth County Democrats will rise to the challenge in November.”
Senate Majority Conference Leader Vin Gopal, the only Democrat in the legislature between exits 1 and 120 on the Garden State Parkway, helped organize the event.
