State Sen. Fred Madden (D-Washington) said on Thursday that he intends to run for reelection in 2021.
“Well it’s three and a half years from now, but yes,” Madden said.
The topic is one that he said is often asked of him, even from the start of his first term.
While the answer he gave was a definitive one, Madden did qualify that a re-election run might fall victim to circumstances that may change between now and an election more than three years away, though he did not specify what might push him to reconsider. Madden has served in the Senate since 2003, when he ousted Republican incumbent George Geist by just 63 votes.
All 40 Senators face the uncertainty of legislative redistricting in 2021. Madden is also the Gloucester County Democratic Chairman.
