Citing support for driver’s licenses for immigrants regardless of legal status and financial aid for DREAMers, the Latino Action Network has endorsed Gov. Phil Murphy for a second term.

“The Latino community has accomplished more with Phil Murphy than we have under any other Governor in the history of New Jersey,” said Christian Estevez, the president of the Latino Action Network. “Governor Murphy has been a great partner in helping us move forward on a myriad of policy issues that have languished under previous administrations.”

The group backed Murphy for governor in 2017 and endorsed Barbara Buono in 2013 after splitting away from the Latino Leadership Alliance, which backed Republican Gov. Chris Christie.

Another Latino Action Network leader, Ana “Cuqui” Rivera, praised Murphy’s support of criminal justice and social justice reform legislation, including the legalization of marijuana and the release of hundreds of people from incarceration during the coronavirus pandemic.
