Hunterdon County Sheriff Frederick Brown and County Commissioners John Lanza and Zachary Rich coasted to re-election tonight, keeping a 43-year Republican winning streak intact.
Brown won his sixth term by a 57%-43% margin over Democrat Viriyah Hodges. Lanza and Rich defeated former West Amwell Mayor John Dale, an ex-Republican who switched parties after losing renomination in 2023, and newcomer Susan Toczylowsk, by about 6,000 votes.
The Republican win marks what could be the last election for Hunterdon County Democratic Chairman Tom Malinowski. The former two-term congressman from the 7th district plans to move to the 11th district to run for Mikie Sherrill’s congressional seat.
