The daughter of civil rights leader Malcom X will join a Newark-based non-profit to discuss voting Thursday.
Ilyasah Shabazz, Project Ready and Parents for Great Camden Schools will join for a digital Q&A at 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 8.
“As we approach what may be the most consequential election in a generation for communities of color, we look forward to hearing from an accomplished author and activist on the connection between racial injustice and voting,” Project Ready Executive Director Shennell McCloud said.
The event will also feature discussion about Shabazz’s new book, “The Awakening of Malcom X,” which details her father’s youth.
“I am looking forward to participating in this discussion and learning from others,” Shabazz said. “It is important that everyone vote.”
