Kate Matteson attracted considerable attention last fall after Assemblyman Parker Space called he “bitch” and an “elitist one percenter” during her campaign against him last fall. Now she and ex-running mate Gina Trish have endorsed Mike Sherrill for the Democratic nomination for Congress in New Jersey’s 11th district.
“I personally witnessed Mikie Sherrill build her grassroots campaign from the ground up. It was clear from the beginning that she had a deep commitment to the entire district, including the residents of Sussex County where she has visited frequently,” Matteson said. “Sherrill is the grassroots, non-establishment candidate who can reach across party lines to bring together a diverse political spectrum, and she has a proven track record of getting the job done. Mikie Sherrill will work with all constituents to make sure that our district’s needs are met and that our values as a state are protected.”
Trish said she formed a personal connection with Sherrill because her father was also a Naval Academy graduate. Said Annapolis draws “a smart, honest, and dependable person that really cares about defending this country and upholding our democracy.”
“I am confident that Mikie will go above and beyond the call of duty to represent the needs of the residents of the 11th district,” Trish said.
