Mayor Jimmy Davis has picked up the endorsement of the Bayonne PBA, while his opponent wants him to veto an ordinance that fines residents $50 for blocking their own driveways.
Davis’ opponent, former Assemblyman Jason O’Donnell, is calling it a driveway tax.
“During last night’s Council meeting they voted to charge residents a fifty dollar tax to block their own driveways to park. One item in one Council meeting should speak volumes to everyone in our City,” O’Donnell said. “Rather than propose a creative solution that uses existing resources to address the crippling parking issue in Bayonne, Jimmy’s Council once again did what they do best- hit the taxpayer in the pocket.”
Bayonne PBA president William Kobryn says that Davis, a retired police officer, “has a complete understanding of the challenges and dangers our members face can face on any given day, which is why he has always strongly supported law enforcement and made critical investments in public safety.
“We’re excited to support Mayor Davis and his Council team and look forward to working with them for a long time,” Kobryn said
