Auth would support Schepisi or Bramnick for governor

Bergen Assemblyman says he won’t be a candidate for statewide office

Assemblyman Bob Auth (R-Old Tappan) said he would like to see Assemblywoman Holly Schepisi (R-River Vale) or Assembly Minority Leader Jon Bramnick (R-Westfield) run for Governor in 2021.

“Either one of those two I would support,” he said.

The next gubernatorial elections are a long way off, and while Auth said that the two had started making moves that could foreshadow a run at the seat, no Republican candidates have announced a run yet.

But, it’s clear that when candidates start to come out of the woodwork Auth won’t be one of them.

“I figure if all my friends are leaving the Assembly, I’ll move up the ranks of the leadership here,” Auth said. “Maybe I’ll be the Speaker.”

Schepisi and Auth are running mates in the 39th legislative district.
