Assemblywoman Eliana Pintor Marin
Budget Committee Chair
(TRENTON) – Assembly Budget Chairwoman Eliana Pintor Marin (D-Essex) released the following statement Wednesday as the Assembly Budget Committee began holding public hearings on the state budget proposal.
“The process upon which we embark today establishes the values of our state and the future of our constituents. The governor has outlined his budget, and now it’s time for the Legislature to ensure a thorough and thoughtful process that reflects our priorities and ensures that we protect New Jersey’s working middle-class families.
“To that end, this committee will ask detailed and relevant questions to make certain that New Jersey’s taxpayers are protected and to ensure that every penny that we spend will go toward providing a better quality-of-life for our residents.
“We owe our constituents a transparent process that holds our decision-makers accountable and asks difficult questions that look out for the state’s bottom line.
“Thank you and I look forward to this process, which I am certain will result in a fiscally responsible, rigorous process, and that we will help to move New Jersey forward.”
