Speaker Coughlin on President Trump’s Immigration Policy: This is Cruel, Inhumane & Must End

By NJG Press Releases, June 19 2018 10:39 pm

(TRENTON) – Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin (D-Middlesex) issued the following statement Tuesday admonishing President Trump’s immigration policy to separate families attempting to cross the US-Mexico border:

“This policy is cruel, inhumane and wildly at odds with the values we share as Americans.

“The damage that this is doing to these children and their families is sinful.

“We’re ripping children from their parents, the people they know, love and trust, and putting them in detention centers. The White House should be ashamed for this hateful approach to immigration.

“Today I lend my voice to the chorus of criticism for this atrocious policy, and encourage everyone who is equally appalled to join me. We cannot ignore this. The future of these children and the morality of our country are at stake.”
