State Sen. Britnee Timberlake (D-East Orange), a delegate to the Democratic National Convention and a key ally of Democratic State Chairman LeRoy Jones, Jr., will support Kamala Harris for president.
“While I am disappointed by the call for President Biden to step down since the last presidential debate, I commend President Biden for his dedicated service to our nation,” said Timberlake. “His decision to leave the race and endorse Kamala Harris demonstrates his commitment to putting the nation before himself, and his willingness to once again make history.”
Last week, Timberlake called for Democrats to unite behind Biden. She called Biden one of the best presidents of her lifetime and said Harris was ready to assume the presidency if necessary.
“I am deeply honored to help nominate the first Black and Asian woman,” she said. “My role as a delegate is historic, and will be a story I proudly share with my children and future generations to come.”
Timberlake said she’s waiting to see who Harris chooses as a running mate, and pointed out that some potential candidates are from New Jersey.
“Now, more than ever, Democrats must unite, stand strong, and vote against former President Trump, who, if he wins, will turn our democracy into a dictatorship,” Timberlake stated.
