N.J. Democrats waive petition requirements for DNC delegates

By David Wildstein, March 19 2020 1:28 pm

New Jersey Democrats have waived petition requirement for candidates for delegate and alternate delegates to the Democratic National Convention and are asking county chairs to extend county committee terms to June 2021 for those up for election this year.

The move is being made “in light of the directives of public health officials regarding social distancing, and in coordination with the two active presidential campaigns,” said Saily Avelenda, the executive director of the New Jersey Democratic State Committee.

“For those counties that have county committee elections this June 2020, NJDSC is recommending that each county adopt a resolution extending terms of current County Committee members to June 2021,” Avelenda said.
