A veteran of Cory Booker’s 2020 White House bid campaign will serve as communications director for the Biden-Harris re-election campaign.

Michael Tyler was Booker’s deputy communications director after serving as national press secretary and chief of staff to Democratic National Chairman Tom Perez.  He’ll join the Biden team next month after working at SS&K, a top public affairs firm, and at LeBron James’ political group, More Than A Vote.

Mo Butler, Booker’s top New Jersey political advisor, praised the selection of Tyler.

“President Biden just hired one of the top communication professionals in the country,” Butler said.  “I’ve seen his work up close and know he will serve the President well in his re-election campaign.”

Several Booker alums work in the Biden administration.

Matt Klapper, Booker’s chief of staff and longtime top advisor, is at the U.S. Department of Justice as chief of staff to Attorney General Merrick Garland.

Louisa Terrell, a former Booker chief of staff, is the White House Office of Legislative Affairs director.

Chris Slevin, who began his political career working for then-West Orange Mayor John McKeon in 2000 and later served as Booker’s legislative director from 2014 to 2018, was Biden’s deputy director of legislative affairs before becoming chief of staff to U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo.

Sabrina Singh, the national press secretary for Booker’s presidential run, served as deputy press secretary to the vice president before joining the Department of Defense as deputy press secretary at the Pentagon last spring.

Booker’s former chief counsel, Tona Boyd, served in the Office of the White House Counsel before joining the Legal Defense Fund earlier this year.
