U.S. Senator Cory Booker and Gov. Phil Murphy will serve on the 50-member National Advisory Board of the Biden-Harris 2024 re-election campaign, putting the two New Jersey Democrats serve as surrogates in media interviews and raise money, especially in battleground states.
A video announcing the launch begins with Booker putting on a Biden-style pair of aviator sunglasses, and Murphy declaring that “Joe Biden rocks.”
Booker is one of eight senators on the board, and Murphy is one of twelve governors.
Murphy said on Twitter that he was excited to be part of the Biden-Harris team.
“The stakes of this election couldn’t be higher,” he said. “It’s time to defeat MAGA extremism and finish the job for the American people.”
The Biden campaign said the initial group of board members “represents a cross-section of leaders in the Party who reflect the Biden coalition’s diversity across many facets.” More names are expected to be added.
“The stakes of this election couldn’t be higher,” Biden said. “Our freedom and democracy are on the line. I’m grateful to this group of diverse and dynamic leaders who will help us win the battle for the soul of America and finish the job for the American people.”
