A Republican state senator from New Jersey denounced a Georgia GOP congresswoman for heckling President Joe Biden during his State of the Union address last night.
“Calling the President of the United States ‘a liar’ by Marjorie Taylor Greene during the State of the Union damages our party,” said State Sen. Jon Bramnick (R-Westfield) on Twitter. “We, as Republicans, must condemn this behavior.”
Bramnick, a longtime lawmaker and former minority leader of the New Jersey State Assembly, has a history of preaching civility in politics.
“Our party cannot ignore this conduct, or we will be defined by a few hateful extremists,” Bramnick said.
His position was backed up by Hudson County GOP Chairman Jose Arango, a former assemblyman and the chairman of the Republican county chairs in the state.
“Correct courtesy class and good behavior will define everything against demagoguery,” Arango said.
Bramnick, a potential candidate for the Republican gubernatorial nomination in 2025, served in the Assembly for 19 years before winning the Central Jersey State Senate seat Tom Kean, Jr. gave up in 2021 to focus on his congressional run.
