Grossman, Lonegan among Marjorie Taylor Greene N.J. donors

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, the freshman congresswoman from Georgia under fire for promoting conspiracy theories and advocating for the execution of top Democratic leaders, raised just $6,595 from New Jersey donors in 2020.

But her contributor list includes to recognizable names: former Bogota Mayor Steve Lonegan and former Atlantic County Freeholder Seth Grossman.

Lonegan was the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate against Cory Booker in 2013, ran for governor twice, and most recently sought the GOP nod to take on Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-Wyckoff) in 2018.

Grossman was the Republican nominee for Congress against then-Democrat Jeff Van Drew in New Jersey’s 2nd district in 2018.  The National Republican Congressional Committee withdrew their support of Grossman after reports of that he had made racist posts on social media.  Van Drew won that race by a relatively narrow 53%-45% margin in a Democratic wave election.

In a 2018 social media post, Greene blamed California wildfires on Jewish space lasers.   She’s been referred to as a QAnon supporter, a 9/11 conspiracy theorist, and alleged that the Obama White House used a street gang to murder a congressional staffer.

Lonegan sent $500 to Greene, while Grossman gave her $350.
