Former State Sen. Jean Stanfield (R-Westampton) has endorsed Curtis Bashaw for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate.

“I’m endorsing Curtis Bashaw because he’s the best candidate to represent New Jersey Republicans this fall on important issues, including securing our open borders, strengthening our national economy, and keeping our families safe,” Stanfield said.  “As a former Sheriff, I know how critical it is to support our law enforcement officers in the line of duty, and I’m confident Curtis will always have their backs.”

Bashaw is one of nine Republicans in the race for the Senate seat held since 2006 by Bob Menendez, a Democrat who is currently under indictment on federal bribery charges.  The Cape May real estate developer and hotelier is part of the top tier of contenders, along with former News 12 New Jersey reporter Alex Zdan and Mendham Mayor Christine Serrano Glassner.

Stanfield’s endorsement suggests that Bashaw is the favorite to run on the GOP organization line in Burlington County.
