Mercer County Republicans voted to give another term to Republican State Committeewoman Ileana Schirmer, who fought back a challenge from Trenton GOP Municipal Chair Jennifer Williams.

Schirmer, the Hamilton GOP chair and a former councilwoman, defeated Williams by a 75-48 vote, 61%-39%.  She will have the organization line in the June primary election for a four-year term.

Former Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli won the Republican organization line on the first ballot, defeating perennial candidate Hirsh Singh, 67-49. A third candidate, Rev. Phil Rizzo, finished third with 15 votes.

Mercer County narrowly went for then-Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno in the 2017 gubernatorial primary.  Guadagno beat Ciattarelli by 105 votes, 40%-36%.
