A rising star in Robbinsville has resigned to take a job with a trade association in Washington, forcing a special election next year.
Tapinto Hamilton/Robbinsville first reported that Councilman Dan Schuberth will leave office on January 1 to become the chief business development officer for the National Association of Wholesaler Distributors.
“After managing a distribution center right her in Robbinsville, I have seen first hand the critical role distributors play in keeping our economy moving and employing millions of people,” Schuberth said in a Facebook video posted on Tuesday. “That role has become only more critical during the global pandemic.”
Schuberth was elected to the township council in 2015 and re-elected in 2019. He served as council president in 2017.
The Robbinsville council will have 30 days to appoint a replacement to hold Schuberth’s seat until a November 2020 special election to fill the remaining 26 months of his term.
Local elections in Robbinsville are non-partisan.
