Kurt Peluso was sworn in tonight as the new mayor of Fair Lawn. He replaces Lisa Swain, who stepped down following her election to the State Assembly.
Christina Cutrone, who lost races for the borough council in 2011 and 2013, took the oath of office tonight as Swain’s replacement as a councilwoman. She will seek Swain’s seat in the November general election.
Swain is expected to be sworn in as an assemblyman on Thursday. The resignations of State Sen. Bob Gordon (D-Fair Lawn) and Assemblyman Tim Eustace (D-Maywood) triggered a series of special election conventions. Joe Lagana (D-Paramus) is now in the Senate, and Swain and former Bergenfield councilman Chris Tully will now take the Assembly seats.
