Hamilton Mayor Jeff Martin was re-elected to a second term with 57% of the vote, and East Windsor Mayor Janice Mironov was re-elected to the township council in a landslide on Tuesday.

In a non-partisan race for three township council seats in West Windsor, just 78 votes separate the top vote-getter from the candidate in sixth place.

Martin leads Republican Marty Flynn by 3,121 votes.  Democratic incumbents Pat Papero, Jr. and Nancy Phillips were re-elected by over 2,000 votes against GOP challengers Gino Melone, a former Trenton city councilman, and Michale Chianese.

Flynn had served as chief of staff to Kelly Yaede, a Republican who was unseated by Martin four years ago by twelve percentage points.

Hamilton is New Jersey’s ninth-largest municipality.   A U.S. Air Force veteran who was first elected councilman in 206, the 39-year-old Martin is considered one of the state’s rising Democratic stars.

Mironov,  the Mercer County Democratic chair, has served as mayor for nearly 28 years.  Democrats swept all five seats on the township council.

In Hopewell Borough, Democrats Sheri Hook and Heidi Wilenius defeated Republican Charles Schuyler Morehouse, a former councilman, to win two common council seats.    They won by roughly 130 votes, a sizeable margin in a small town.

Democrats Michael Ruger and Kevin Kuchinski easily won two Hopewell Township Committee seats against Republicans Daniel Hanley and Jennifer DiDonato.

In a non-partisan race in Robbinsville, Christine Ciaccio, Mike Todd and Amit Chopra won decisive victories against Lea Borghard and Kiran Agrahara.

In the West Windsor race, Andrea Sue Mandel (2,548), Sonia Gawas (2,535) and Dan Weiss (2,531) lead Stacey Fox (2,529), Ben Finkelstein (2,527) and Michael Ray Stevens (2,470).
