Somerset County Republican State Committeewoman Janice Fields has announced that she will seek be a candidate for the Bernards Township Committee when the local organization screens candidates on March 18.
Mayor Carol Bianchi, a Republican, said last week that she would not seek re-election to a third term.
TAPinto Basking Ridge first reported Bianchi’s retirement.
“I have reached a point in my life where I want to give back more to the community that has provided a wonderful life to me and my family over the past 27 years. Everyone who lives here knows that Bernards Township is a great place to live, work and raise a family,” said Fields. “For this reason, I have decided the best way to give back to my community is through dedicated public service and seeking the Republican nomination for Bernards Township Committee.”
Fields is involved in numerous local organizations. In 2016 she was the recipient of the Somerset County Federation of Republican Women Millicent Fenwick Award.
