Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla hired Christine Stoll to be his chief of staff, according to a Friday release.
Stoll worked as chief of staff to Assemblyman John Allen (D-Hoboken), another onetime chief of staff to Bhalla. Allen isn’t seeking re-election and Bhalla is campaigning to replace him in the lower chamber.
Stoll worked in New York’s state government for several years, most recently as director of special events for Gov. Kathy Hochul.
Stoll is succeeding her husband, Vijay Chaudhuri.
Bhalla said Stoll played a crucial role in securing funding for Hoboken schools, infrastructure, and constituent services. Stoll’s hiring takes effect next Friday.
“Christine brings a wealth of experience and a proven commitment to public service that make her exceptionally qualified to take on this critical role,” Bhalla said in a release. “Her understanding of government operations, her ability to engage with diverse stakeholders, and her track record of successfully delivering for the community will make her an asset to my administration, and to the City of Hoboken.”
Stoll also worked as chief of staff to New York Assemblyman Mike Miller and as a staffer for New York City Councilwoman Elizabeth Crowley. She graduated from George Washington University.
“I am honored to join Mayor Bhalla’s team and excited to work alongside such dedicated public servants,” Stoll said. “Serving the people of Hoboken in this new capacity is a privilege, and I look forward to helping advance initiatives that strengthen the Hoboken community and enhance the quality of life for all residents.”
