Democratic Councilwoman Sheri Hook won re-election to the Hopewell Borough Council, while fellow Democrat Justine Levine won the open seat being vacated by retiring Councilwoman Heidi Wilenius. The pair defeated independent challenger James Higgins, who ran under the “Putting Hopewell First” ballot slogan.

Levine received 737 votes, while Hook received 666. Higgins received 374 votes.

Levine, dean of Rockefeller College at Princeton University, will succeed Wilenius on the council. Higgins, a community advocate, sought to break the Democrats’ hold on the governing body.

The results preserve Democratic control of every seat on the Borough Council.

Hopewell Borough is a Democratic stronghold. Harris carried the borough by 59 points in 2024, while Sherrill won it by 63 points in 2025.
