Jeff Grayzel says that he has the support of the Morris Township Committee to become mayor when they reorganize in January.
Grayzel had served as mayor in 2019 and his fellow Democrat, Cathy Wilson, held the post this year.
Mark Gyorfy will serve as deputy mayor.
“I am proud to be returning as mayor in the coming year and continue to build on the foundation that Cathy Wilson, Mark Gyorfy, and I have worked hard to establish over the past two years,” Grayzel stated. “We have undertaken numerous initiatives to improve the quality of life in Morris Township and will continue to address the issues our residents care about.”
Democrat Bud Ravitz will join the township committee next month. Ravitz, who lost by just 8 votes to longtime Republican Committeeman Peter Mancuso in 2019, won an open seat last month.
Grayzel became the first Democrat to serve as mayor when he took office in January 2019. He was also the first Democrat to win more than one term on the township committee.
