Former Parsippany Council President Lou Valori is expected to challenge Mayor Michael Soriano, and Morris County Democrats have already taken to bashing the prospective candidate, even though the race won’t start in earnest until next year.
The county party on Thursday sent out a press release bashing Valori over his performance in past elections.
The Republican was ousted along with incumbent Council Vincent Ferrara and Mayor James Barberio in 2017, when Soriano and Democratic Council candidates Janice McCarthy and Emily Peterson swept Parsippany’s local races.
Valori ran 866 votes behind Peterson, the second place finisher. In 2016, Valori mounted an unsuccessful bid for freeholder, placing sixth in a seven-candidate field.
