The Communications Workers of America today endorsed Craig Guy for Hudson County Executive, giving Guy another labor backer in his bid to succeed incumbent Tom DeGise.
“As a long-time public worker, Craig Guy intrinsically understands what working men and women need and deserve,” Vice President for CWA District 1 Vice President Dennis Trainor said in a statement. “With Craig as county executive, Hudson County – and the surrounding region – can prosper and reach its full potential for everyone who lives and works there.”
Guy currently serves as DeGise’s chief of staff, and has long been a well-connected insider in Hudson Democratic circles. When DeGise, who has been county executive since 2002, began telling party leaders last year that he would retire, Guy was already in place as his chosen successor.
Running on the Democratic organization line, Guy has endorsements from most major Hudson politicians as well as Gov. Phil Murphy. He has one Democratic primary opponent: Eleana Little, who is leading an off-the-line progressive slate of county commissioner and legislative candidates.
