Leonard Desiderio won reelection to Cape May’s county commission Tuesday — the outcome was a foregone conclusion, as no Democrat had bothered to run against him.
Desiderio has served as a commissioner since 2002 and as mayor of Sea Isle City since 1993. The director of Cape May County’s commissioner board faced no competition in the primary and none in the general. Democrats haven’t won the county since 2000, when now-Republican Jeff Van Drew earned victory.
Cape May’s commission remains entirely Republican.
