Camden County Republican Chairman Tom Crone has become the first county chairman to publicly endorse Donald Trump for President.
“This endorsement comes as no surprise, as we have seen firsthand the positive impact President Trump has had on our nation during his first term in office,” Crone said. “Following our informal straw poll held the night of the Iowa Caucus, President Trump won 80% of that vote, which was a key factor in this decision, but not the only one.
Save Jersey first reported the results of that straw poll; Trump received 31 votes, while Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis each got three votes. Vivek Ramaswamy, who had not yet withdrawn from the race, had two votes.
As the Republican Chairman in one of New Jersey’s most historically Democratic counties, it is important to recognize the impact and connection that President Trump has with hardworking families across the nation and increases our ability to connect with communities long forgotten or taken for granted by the Democratic Party,” said Crone. “President Trump is the best candidate to lead our party and our nation in the upcoming 2024 election.”
Assemblyman Robert Auth (R-Old Tappan) endorsed Trump last weekend and mobilized a group of North Jersey Republicans to make phone calls to Iowa caucusgoers. Assistant Senate Minority Leader Joseph Pennacchio (R-Montville), the co-chairman of Trump’s 2020 New Jersey campaign, is also backing the former president.
Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-Dennis) is Trump’s New Jersey campaign manager his year.
