The New Jersey Globe can project that Democratic Westfield Mayor Shelley Brindle has been re-elected to a second term, defeating former Republican Councilwoman JoAnn Neylan.
Brindle was elected four years ago with 61% of the vote to lead the historically Republican town, but her tenure has not always been the smoothest one. Several weeks ago, the mayor was dinged for taking a campaign contribution from a developer with whom she simultaneously made a tax abatement deal.
