Bridgewater Democrats have picked their candidates for township council in a large Somerset County municipality that is staunchly Republican at the local level but gave Joe Biden a 12-point win in 2020, along with pluralities for Cory Booker and Tom Malinowski.
The local ticket will be headed by Jill Gladstone, a five-term member of the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional Board of Education. She’ll run with Jennifer Feigley, a risk manager who helped local seniors obtain vaccine appointments as a leader of the Bridgewater Vaccine Angels group, and Saad Toor, a teacher at The Pingry School.
Republicans currently hold all five seats on the Bridgewater council, as well as the mayoral post.
In 2019, then-Council President Matt Moensch ousted an incumbent mayor in the primary election and went on to win the general election by a 57%-41% margin.
The GOP has not yet announced if incumbents Howard Norgalis, Filipe Pedroso and Allen Kurdyla will seek re-election.
