Charles Boddy was elected Warren County Democratic chairman on Sunday with 83% of the vote against former Washington Borough Mayor Scott McDonald.

He succeeds Tom Palmieri, who did not seek re-election after ten years in the post and had endorsed Boddy.

“I am committed to growing the Democratic Party by increasing visibility, and enthusiasm and developing quality candidates for office representing our values,” Boddy said.  “As our state and our nation face an inflection point in our democracy, we need serious people to step up and lead with character, decency, and integrity.”

Boddy is a former Washington Township Democratic municipal chairman, Warren-Sussex NAACP president, and a Democratic candidate for State Assembly in the 23rd district in 2017.

Palmieri will remain on the political scene: he mounted a successful write-in campaign for county commissioner in the Democratic primary and received 105 votes – five more than he needed to capture the nomination.  He will face two-term incumbent James Kern in the general election.

Sherry Corcoran was elected vice chair; Elizabeth Gittins is the treasurer and Karen Klein is the secretary.
