Mayor Eric Wilsusen has won the Republican primary for mayor of Jefferson, beating former Assemblyman Christian Barranco. Wilsusen won 1,609 to 1,138, with Barranco losing by sixteen points. .
Barranco lost his bid for a third term in the Assembly to Assemblywoman Marisa Sweeney (D-Morristown) last year.
Councilwoman Melisa Senatore and farmer Thomas Galfo won the Republican primary for town council. Senatore leads with 1,557 votes, followed by Galfo with 1,540 votes, followed by Sheila Brown with 1,015 votes, and Dorothy Santasieri with 947 votes. Sanatore and Galfo ranw ith Wilsusen.
Jefferson is a Republican stronghold. Donald Trump carried Jefferson by more than 25 points in 2024.
