Council races in Absecon are still too close to call.

Democratic Ward 1 Councilwoman Betty Howell leads Republican challenger Nicholas LaRotonda by just eight votes, 1,382 to 1,374. On Election day, Howell led by 23 votes.

Ward 2 Councilman Donald Burroughs still holds a significant lead over Republican Chris Seher for the remainder of Democratic Mayor Kimberly Horton’s unexpired council term.

The Democrat leads by 150 votes, 25 more than he did on election day. Horton leads challenger Gregory Seher by more than 700 votes.

If Democrats win, they’ll keep their 6-1 majority on the council in Absecon.

Democratic leads are holding in Egg Harbor City.

Mayor Lisa Jiampetti has expanded her advantage over Republican challenger Joseph Ricci to 319 votes, up from 268 on election day.

The Democrat’s council running mates are faring similarly well.

Councilwoman Donna Heist has 1,064 votes, while Democrats Mason Wright and Karl Timbers have 1,000 and 955, respectively.

Republican Councilman Clifford Mays has 770 votes. His running mates, Ingrid Clark and Joseph Ellis, have 756 and 739 votes, respectively.
