Republican councilman Robert Melick and Justin Jewell won both seats on the Alpha Borough Council, defeating independent challenger Thomas Seiss and keeping the six-member governing body entirely in Republican hands.
Melick won re-election with 510 votes. Jewell captured the seat vacated by retiring Republican Councilman Louis Cartabona with 498 votes. Seiss, a former councilman who ran as an independent challenger to the Republicans, received 242 votes.
Jewell previously served on the Washington Borough Council from 2010 to 2013, leaving office after moving out of the municipality. Seiss, a former council president, served on the Alpha council as recently as 2017.
Alpha has a strong Republican lean. Donald Trump carried the borough by 17 percentage points in 2024, reflecting the GOP’s strength in the community and across Warren County.
