The members of the Kennedy family will be in New Jersey this month to raise money for Democratic lawmakers seeking re-election in Monmouth County.
Former Reps. Joseph Kennedy III (D-Massachusetts) and Patrick Kennedy (D-Rhode Island), and 2020 New Jersey congressional candidate Amy Kennedy will headline a fundraiser for Senate Majority Conference Leader Vin Gopal (D-Long Branch), Assemblywoman Joann Downey (D-Freehold) and Assemblyman Eric Houghtaling (D-Neptune).
The grandson of former U.S. Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, Joe Kennedy served in Congress for eight years before giving up his seat last year to run for the U.S. Senate.
Patrick Kennedy, the son of former U.S. Senator Ted Kennedy, spent fourteen years as a congressman from Rhode Island and served as chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC). He now lives in Brigantine with his wife, Amy, who lost her bid to unseat Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-Dennis) by a 52%-46% margin last year.
Gopal raised money for both Joe and Amy Kennedy during their 2020 campaigns.
The event will be held at Wonder Bar in Asbury Park on September 23.
