Speight undecided on presidential candidates

Assemblywoman Shanique Speight doesn’t have a presidential favorite.

“No, I haven’t,” she said when asked if she had backed a candidate since U.S. Sen. Cory Booker dropped out of the race.

Speight’s district, the 29th, is made up almost entirely of the eastern portion of Newark.

Essex County Chairman LeRoy Jones last week indicated he was considering eliminating organizational lines for the presidential primary.

Speight declined to comment on that matter.

“I don’t have a statement on that at this time,” she said.
