The New Jersey Senate today confirmed Gov. Phil Murphy’s nomination of Kevin Egan for a seat on the Rutgers University Board of Governors.
The New Brunswick councilman and son of Assembly Labor Committee Chairman Joseph Egan (D-New Brunswick) replaced Martin Perez. Perez had been named to the post by Gov. Chris Christie.
The Senate also approved Brian Bridges as the Secretary of Higher Education, Leonard Carr as a member of the State Investment Council, and Maureen Bugdon as Atlantic County Superintendent of Elections.
Bridges replaces Zakiya Smith Ellis, who has taken a senior post on Gov. Phil Murphy’s staff as chief policy advisor. Carr is taking the seat of Tom Byrne, a former Democratic State Chairman. Bugdon, a Christie appointee and former Atlantic GOP official, was a reappointment.
Egan’s nomination moved through the Senate in just two months, while Bridges, Carr and Bugdon took three.
